The Undertones Of Melancholy

The undertones of melancholy

Lay still in the wishful night,

Quietly they mourn the tainted sunrise,

That holds on to the ghost of life.

Sadness does not settle inside tears,

Or, in the harmonies of broken hearts,

It plays inside the souls of defeat,

Dancing to every single heartbeat,

Swaying in the depths of memory,

Anchoring to the shores of regret.

As the sky welcomes an early sunset,

The frail notes of lasting sentiment,

Are laid to rest.
