The Last Letter
Today feels strangely familiar,
As I sit and write my last letter,
I don’t know how to feel,
I am fragile and weak,
Hello, my name is Susan,
And I have been ill for some time.
My story began 5 years ago,
I was happily married,
And my life was filled with hope,
I worked in retail,
And absolutely loved my job,
The weeks and months
Were very busy,
Working around the shop.
Weekends were lovely,
My husband would gift me
Red roses, twelve to be exact,
We would walk on the beach,
With sunset in our mist,
Holding hands, dancing on the sand.
I was blissfully happy,
Our house was always filled with love,
I was the lucky one,
There was so much trust between us.
We celebrated our wedding anniversary
In a tiny cafe in Rome,
Just the two of us,
