Careless Love

If I were to surrender who I was,

My whole existence,

The very essence of my thoughts,

Will you summon your heart to me?

If I were to renounce my visions,

And let go of futile ambitions,

Will you come and rescue me?

If I ignored my pride,

And sacrificed the ego,

Would you desire who I've become?

Could we escape mediocrity,

With imperfect sanity?

Abandon our hallowed dreams,

Without regrets.

My mind commands my soul to love,

Yet this battle inside of me,

It does not allow for happiness.
