A Heart Of Stone

You come with masquerades and turmoil,

Threatening my reasons, destroying my truth.

You with a heart of stone, who dismisses my soul,

And brings the wrath of a troubled past

To revisit my mind,

Where darkness never dies,

And isolation rules my world.

Who are you to question me?

You cannot detain my thoughts,

Or shatter my voice with insecurities.

I do not proclaim innocence,

Nor do I speak through experience,

But I do know what love is,

I do know how love feels

When it is allowed to be.

Your faults have drowned my joy,

And withered my bones away,

My fragile state exudes misery,

While you with a heart of stone,

Defeat the best of me,

Without regrets or empathy.

This affair of futile words,

Abandons every sentiment of hope,

My eyes with heavy tears,

Surrender to despair,

They cannot bear to see the wreckage,

Of my hollow, broken home.
